BeBop Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 I'm standing at an internet kiosk in the Roma airport. Apparently Italian guy looking over my shoulder. (in Italian...) 'What is this Organissimo?' (with sharp Italian pronounciation of the final word). Quote

Free For All Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 (edited) The name "organissimo" is the name of our organ trio (organ, guitar, drums) and a play on the word "pianissimo". Hmm...."soft organ"? I've never really thought about that......hmm..... It could also be "organ" + "fortissimo"........... .......or "organ" + "bellissimo"............. ..or "largissimo" based on the speed of the board this weekend........... How often do you guys play at the "pianissimo" dynamic level anyway? Edited August 29, 2004 by Free For All Quote

Oh, I suppose I could have given him a straight answer (...heck, yours is the only CD I've bought in three years), but I suppose I was looking for something a bit more enticing. I gave him your website URL, said you were a great band (my Italian is quite limited) and told him you were 'maximum organ'. Obviously, the genesis of his question was the Italian sounding name. Peter Johnson Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Maximum Organ! Jim, I think you should change the name of the band--that's great! Quote
ghost of miles Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 This reminds me of the ad copy for the Mosaic caps & T-shirts, in which folks who are asked, "What the heck is a Mosaic?" are advised to give "a slight, enigmatic smile" in reply. Talk about playing to your inner jazz snob! B-) Quote
