Chuck Nessa Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 After some online speculation about the "health" of Okka, 2 new releases hit my door today. "Furniture Music" is a the first solo project by Ken Vandermark, and a group called Triage (Dave Rempis- alto/tenor, Jason Ajemian-bass, Tim Daisey-drums) is represented by a date called "Twenty Minute Cliff". Chuck Nessa Posted May 17, 2003 Author Report Posted May 17, 2003 No chance to listen yet. I just opened the boxes. I also received a new (Italian) disc by Roscoe Mitchell and the Note Factory (Leo Smith is the trumpeter on this one), and an 11 cd set of the Mozart symphonies by Trevor Pinnock. I'll be spinning new sides for a few days. Quote
J.A.W. Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 (edited) What is the title of the Mitchell and what label is it on? That Pinnock set has great "period" performances, though I always found the complete symphonies a bit much... Edited May 18, 2003 by J.A.W. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 18, 2003 Author Report Posted May 18, 2003 Roscoe's disc is called "The Bad Guys" and is on the Around Jazz/il manifesto label. It says "Live In Fano - Jazz by the Sea- July 2000". I have no idea of the availability or who might distribute it. Roscoe sent me this copy. The Pinnock box was only $30, so I can live with 'em all. John B Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Does anyone know where you can get a copy of Mitchell’s The Bad Guys? Unfortunately for me I didn't catch the Ebay auction before this. I don't know how good your Italian is, but I found this article on the Italian AAJ site: ROSCOE MITCHELL & The Note Factory,"Bad Guys" - CD live E' un grande onore per Il Manifesto Cd presentare l'album live di Roscoe Mitchell and The Note Factory. It might be worth writing to one of these email addresses and seeing if they can direct you to a copy. Maybe writing to Jazzos would work, although they do not have the disc listed yet. Quote
