sidewinder Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 (edited) 60+! I'll second that.. (Lots of black boxes over here in Europe by the looks of things..) Edited August 12, 2004 by sidewinder Quote
king ubu Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Another 20+ vote. I have 30+, I think. No selects, so far. Too lazy to count them. ubu Quote
tjobbe Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 none... although roughly 1000 CD's now on shelf I hope that doensn't disqualify me ... Cheers, Tjobbe Quote
Brad Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 If you throw in Selects I'm approaching 50 plus. I wonder if the gurus at Mosaic are reading this. Quote
jazzbo Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 I don't have them all. Been on a moratorium of that kind of spending most of this year, and I have ignored a lot of the Selects because I have the material and in the case of say the Monchur not my favorite stuff. . . . I have quite a lot of them though, and in the case of the early sets I don't have them but have the material elsewhere. Quote
Dave James Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 68 and still counting, although I have not bought one for quite some time. Last new box was the Mulligan CJB. Several sets (Jones, Eldridge, Smith, Farlow and Herman) are singing their siren song, so there's no telling how much longer I can hold out. Up over and out. Quote
B. Goren. Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 More than 20 and Teddy Wilson is on the way. Quote
Brad Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Dave James and Stefan are the champs so far. Quote
Big Al Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Man, some of you guys spent more on Mosaics than I spent on my first house! Peter, a PM has been sent re: the Dex box. Quote
vibes Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 and I sure wish Shearing would come in my mail... I listened to the first disc this morning, and it's excellent music. I've been listening to the Nancy Wilson/George Shearing CD that was recently released and having fun with it, and the quality of the music in Mosaic is comparable. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. Quote
Big Wheel Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 (edited) 59 respondents have replied to this poll, and in total they've reported buying at least 806 boxes (probably there are many more, but I only tallied the minimum number for each poll choice). So assuming a minimum of $48 dollars a box, that's a minimum revenue to Mosaic of almost $39,000--just from the people on this thread. Edited August 12, 2004 by Big Wheel Quote
take5 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Big Wheel, your calculations don't include ebay purchases, revenue that wouldn't be going to Mosaic. But I guess that makes up for using the minimum of the choices in the poll. I have 2 and 4 more coming in the mail from ebay (all OOP), but I've only just started, Lord help me... Quote
trane123 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 90+ at last count. The only two OOP CD sets that I don't have are the Amos Milburn and the Master Jazz Piano boxes. Hey, everyone needs a hobby... Quote
jazzbo Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 B-) The winner, and still champeen! Let's hear it for Trane! Wow. . . I better lock up my Amos Milburn and Master jazz sets! Quote
Dan Gould Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Couldn't vote til I got home to count, but the numbers are decidedly middling (in this crowd): 20 Box Sets 2 Selects Burns of two OOP sets acquired from friendly patrons of this here board. Quote
Matthew Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 I'm at 38 right now. Gladly, my outbreak of Mosaicmania passed a couple of years ago, so I've only bought 5 sets in the past two-an-a-half years. Quote

P.D. Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Well the Herman arrived today.. that makes 113, plus all the selects. My name has four slang terms for penis in it Anybody beat that????? or should we get our rulers out Quote
jazzbo Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Well, that makes you the winner . . . on at least one count! Quote
J.A.W. Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 (edited) I sold several sets over the years (replaced many of them with individual albums), and now I've got 18 left (not counting Selects). Edited August 13, 2004 by J.A.W. Quote
Guest Chaney Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 After selling off a couple sets, twelve remain. Quote
