Hardbopjazz Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I would never thought of collecting them. I usually through them out whenever I get them and read through them. Quote
Brad Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I save mine but never thought of selling them on ebay. Anyway, mine only go back to 1999. Quote
jazzbo Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I've got most all of them going back to #9 or so. . . . But I don't get excited about them any longer. Partly it's because I've become a jaded collector. Partly because I talk about Mosaic more and more over the years on board and in email, and because the website now gives me the breaking news that the brochures used to. . . . I can really remember the excitement of getting my first Mosaics, and the way I used to just pore over each brochure. . . ! Quote
Clunky Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I can really remember the excitement of getting my first Mosaics, and the way I used to just pore over each brochure. . . ! same here, back then the brochures also had a brief article or even an interview elevating it above being a mere sales leaflet .... jazzbo Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 That's a good point, indeed. I still remember the interview with RVG for instance. Wow! Quote
brownie Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I can really remember the excitement of getting my first Mosaics, and the way I used to just pore over each brochure. . . ! Same here. I remember buying a lot of the boxes back in the eighties. All the boxes came with the latest brochures. I go back to brochure nr. 5, the one that had Herbie Nichols on the cover! I kept all the brochures. Quote
Bill Nelson Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Yeah, my brochure run started with #7 or 8 (whichever had Cecil Taylor on the cover). As my file cabinet got jammed, I said,"WHY am I keeping these around? WHO have I gotta convince at this point?" They were thoughtfully recycled with my office paper and I haven't kept any since.
