ghost of miles
You're welcome! Frank died seven years ago today and so it's all Frank -- all day -- at my place. I didn't even realize that... I was working at Borders the day that he died, and yeah, we played his music for the rest of the shift that I was working. Just got Friedwald's THE SONG IS YOU a couple of weeks ago; maybe I'll sack in with that and the Columbia box tonight when I get home (still haven't listened to discs 10-12). Guest Chaney
You might also like Sessions With Sinatra: Frank Sinatra and the Art of Recording by Charles L. Granata. Fascinating behind-the-scenes material of Sinatra's recording sessions.
ghost of miles
PERFECTLY FRANK is . Wish he'd recorded in a small-group setting more often... I have the Norvo live CD and WEE SMALL HOURS, but damn, was this CD tasty.

Dave James
Numero Uno Sinatra goose bump moment for me is from "Sinatra at the Sands with Count Basie and the Orchestra" on the tune "I've Got You Under My Skin". Just before the two minute mark, when the band starts to crank it up and Sinatra says "Run for cover." "Run and hide". At that point, the band absolutley cuts loose. That does it for me each and every time. Up over and out. Edited June 25, 2006 by Dave James
