Hardbopjazz Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Wondering if any of the musicians here record themselves when gigging? Quote
Popper Lou Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 I do this almost all the time. Helps to listen to yourself. Picked up on some habits I was doing when playing my alto. Made me a better player I think. Quote
Z-Man Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Back when I WAS gigging, I recorded many of them. I had a rule that I would only listen to the tape after two weeks. I found that was the only way I could listen objectively, as by then I would have gotten over any emotional high or low from the gig. I found it to be very beneficial. It was interesting how frequently gigs that I thought I had played poorly on actually sounded pretty good on the tape, and vice versa. Quote
freddydwight Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 no. the music goes into the air and lands wherever it wants. B) freddy Quote
casanovas347 Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 always.....even the rehersals .....(dat recorder and two Neuman KM184 miks...thats it!) Quote
jazzypaul Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 yep. Mini-disc once again proves itself to be manna from God. you can make fairly decent recordings from the room, and you can hear enough to make value judgements. I figure stuff out all the time about how I play, and how to make it better. Quote
