Joe G Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Yes... crap, what's his screen name... his avatar was a animated conductor's hand.. But didn't he say he was going to Japan? Do you know who I mean? Quote
blue lake Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Sorry, we have the first volley of the Blue Lake Jazz Festival this Wednesday live from Stewart Shell at 7:30 p.m. I look forward to being on the air from 7:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. (The first hour is the live concert). Have a great time and, you know, tip a few for me! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 20, 2004 Author Report Posted July 20, 2004 Too bad you can't join us, Lazaro. Have fun! Quote

Do you know who I mean? Jamn. I think he's very busy about now! He's going to Japan in August, I think. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Not positive, but I think I'll be there. Quote
Uncle Skid Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Bill and I are planning on being there -- we usually practice on Wednesday nights, but we don't want to miss this one. Chuck, let us know if you like to ride along. Jamn (Jack) lives right down the street from me, but I haven't seen him lately. Did anybody PM or email him? Also, my guitar teacher (and all-around great guy and great musician) Phil Marsh may be there as well. I mentioned it to him yesterday. If I remember correctly, Randy helped me get in touch with Phil initially to set up lessons. Thanks again, Randy! Looking forward to meeting you, Big Al! -- Mark Quote
Upright Bill Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 I'm in and bringing at least one other, not counting Uncle Skid. Well, Uncle Skid can count its just that I wasn't counting him when I said I was bringing at least one other person. I am bringing Uncle Skid but I wasn't counting him when I said I'd be bring at least one other person. Wait, I mean.... nevermind. I will be there, you can count on that. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Damn! I'll be doing a road trip in August -- 14 through the end of the month. From DC to Minnesota and parts between. I wish I could catch you guys...... Quote
RainyDay Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 You guys ever come out to the West Coast? Quote
Joe G Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 (edited) Stefan--check the webpage for dates before you leave. Maybe there will be one you can make. RainyDay--individually, yes, but thus far, not as a group. Someday perhaps. Edited July 20, 2004 by Joe G Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Jim, are old jeans and sandals ok at this place? Don't want to be a sore thumb in GR. B) Quote
Free For All Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Well, you might want to also wear a shirt, Chuck. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Well, you might want to also wear a shirt, Chuck. SHIT!!!!!!!! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 21, 2004 Author Report Posted July 21, 2004 Chuck, the joint used to be a sports bar, so I think you'll be fine. Shirt or no. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Looks like I'll be coming with Upright, the Skidster and friend. I promise to take a shower tomorrow. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Posted July 22, 2004 The hit didn't happen. The club lost power during that storm that rolled through around 5:30pm and we waited around until 9pm before the manager finally called it. Chuck, Bill, Mark, their friend Eric all came out as well as some other friends of ours and some people who heard we were going to be there. We would've had a great crowd. At 9pm we left to get some food and drinks at Vitale's on Leonard and Big Al joined us there. We still had a good time, although I was looking forward to playing. But it was a great hang none-the-less. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Yes indeed! I just got home and was listening to Roscoe, Wadada and Braxton on Lazaro's show. Quote
wesbed Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 b3-er: You need to relocate the band to Arizona. Soulstation1, catesta and I would be able to enjoy Organissimo live. You won't have to experience too many weather problems in this part of the country. Phoenix anyone? Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Come on, Wes, You and SS1 and Catesta surely can take a vacation up to these parts, and we'd make sure we had a bunch of Midwestern Organissimos here to welcome you all! Quote
wesbed Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Come on, Wes, You and SS1 and Catesta surely can take a vacation up to these parts, and we'd make sure we had a bunch of Midwestern Organissimos here to welcome you all! Ohhh... I visited Columbus, Ohio about seven times last year. Me no like the climate in that part of the country. Too humid in the summer and TOO COLD in the winter. Hot & dry and the option of wearing shorts all year round is good for me. Quote
blue lake Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Ahhhh! Chuck, I'm glad you heard that! Quote
blue lake Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Wesbed, one of the jazz musicians from Grand Rapids DID just relocate out there: have you run into pianist John Shea? Quote
