Claude Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Well, I finally found one about 6 months ago, but Charles Tolliver's "Compassion" was a real bitch to find. I got mine off eBay, from a guy in the U.K. - and this was the only time I ever bid on anything from a country other than the U.S. or Canada. CHARLES TOLLIVER (trumpet) NATHEN PAGE (guitar) -- Note: His name is often misspelled as "Nathan Page" STEVE NOVOSEL (bass) ALVIN QUEEN (drums) Unlike all of Tolliver's other Strata East titles, which have been released on CD recently (late 90's) on Charley, "Compassion" (which is also on Strata East) has only ever been released on CD in the early, early 90's, on (I think) Bellaphone (sp?), in Germany. I think I paid about $30 for the used one I got (including postage from the U.K.), but it was worth it. A great album - if anyone ever sees it, by all means pick it up - for anything less than $20, for sure. I'll have to think about a list of "10-most-wanted", and get back to you... Hey, I found this for 7 Euro last week in a second hand store, I also got the two volumes of "Live in Berlin" for the same price. My Top Wanted are: - Tony Cue - Mainly Mancini - Wayne Horvitz - Nine Below Zero - Gil Evans - Where Flamingos fly - London Jazz Composers Orchestra - Double Trouble - Gil Melle - Complete Blue Note sessions Quote
Dennis_M Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 I am searching for Marion McPartland's Piano Jazz with Milt Hinton. My wife heard it on the radio a couple of weeks ago and liked it! I'll buy any jazz CD she likes (within reason). Dennis Quote

Brownian Motion Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 I'm still looking for Sharon Isbin/Carlos Barbosa-Lima "Brazil With Love". It shouldn't be as rare as it is: original CD issue in 1992. Quote

Ed S Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 This might raise a few eyebrows or start a few chuckles, but I've been looking for a copy of Tommy Smith's Paris forever. Fortunately, a fellow BNBBer set me up with a burned copy, but I's still like to find an original. Anybody spot one, let me know All's well that ends well - I bagged a real copy of Paris a short while ago. Patience pays off. Quote

One of my favorites is "The Christmas Concert". It's not what it seems. Kind of like "Trane Plays Xmas Favorites" from say the the "Live at Birdland" era. His "The Sound Of Love" cd is beautiful and romantic. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 I was desperately looking for Pat Metheny's Speaking of Now for about a week, but I finally found it in a generic jewel case in the bedroom. Quote
