It's a tight race in the East and it seems that the Shock are struggling a bit, but I still have to give props to my girl, Swin Cash, a fellow McKeesporter.

I used to go to every McKeesport High School Tiger basketball game and get moony eyed over her uncle, Lance Cash, back in the 70's.

That last shot by A.I. yesterday was incredible! He gets on my nerves and I think he is the antithesis to the Larry Brown school of playing, but he is a damn good player, no doubt.

I'd say there's about a 50/50 chance that we'll get bronze or better.

We suck. That German team didn't even qualify for the Olympics.

I think we should send our defending NBA Champion team. The Pistons would chew all these teams up and spit them out. Instead we send a young team that doesn't ever play together to face teams that play together all year.

What does all of this say about the overall standard of play in the NBA in recent years? :tdown ?

Does the fact that high school seniors and college freshmen can now come into the league and have an impact say something about the quality of play? - Just raising the question.

I hear what you're saying, believe me, but I don't think this is entirely accurate. In reality, the "impact" of high school and college freshman talent is only felt on draft day. Only in exceptional cases do we hear from them later...

T-Mac, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Lebron, Carmelo, Kirilenko...that's a pretty stellar cast of guys who entered the NBA in their teens. And that's a short list. I'm not saying that forgoing college or leaving early is a formula for success...but I'd have to say that it's becoming less exceptional nowadays that guys come in early and are ready.

All depends on how you look at it. No one knows but the people directly involved. We'll never know what really happened. Time to put this crap behind him.

Big bad #8 will be in uniform opening day. He better average 35 this year if he expects to make the Playoffs. He better get used to other big men lighting us up as that gaping hole where #34 used to stand is now loosely occupied by Floppy Divac.

Money sure does help one, doesn't it? <_<

Kobe case dismissed at request of prosecution

The Kobe Bryant case ...

Associated Press

The following statement by Kobe Bryant was issued after sexual assault charges against him were dropped:

"First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo.

"I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.

"I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado."

Other teams have won without Shaq.

Shaq sounds like the Olympic basketball team and Mike Tyson - all talk. His toe will be his downfall.

Does Miami even have a coach?

Shaq doesn't even have a contract after next year. What will someone pay him? He wants 30 million.

Gary Payton, poor fella' got a DUI :( . Maybe that's why he wasn't making the plays last season...booze (?!!). I never play too well when I'm tanked, either! It's amazing how little media attention he's received since last season. I've never seen such a quick qualitative dump, well....at least since Shawn Kemp!!!
