Christiern Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 This (July 11, 2004) is a beautiful day in NYC. Here are a couple of photos I took on my way to the supermarket. This is Central Park, diagonally across the street from my building. Quote
Christiern Posted July 11, 2004 Author Report Posted July 11, 2004 and here's the other photo... why do I sit at this computer on a day like this??? Quote
Jim R Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 We need more threads like this. I wish I was as computer (and camera) savvy as some of you folks. Anyway, thanks for the breath of fresh air! Not viewable from my window, nor on a walk to the grocery store, but here are a couple of images I found on the net recently. These are two different views of a lake in the high country of the Sierra Nevada, which was a favorite backpacking destination of my dad's. We scattered his ashes there 20 years ago. Quote
7/4 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 and here's the other photo... why do I sit at this computer on a day like this??? Because it's 85 outside. Quote
BERIGAN Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 and here's the other photo... why do I sit at this computer on a day like this??? Makes one almost want to forget one's beliefs, or lack thereof.... Quote
7/4 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 The river next to my building at high tide. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 (edited) The view from my living room. After a lifetime of non-interest in gardening I've finally decided to do something. The small pond is a few years old (God, those paving slabs need levelling!); the large pond got made a week ago. Very much a work in progress. Currently a building site! I hope by next summer it will be a place fit to listen to Maria Schneider CDs in! Weather's been bloody awful here since early June, by the way! Edited July 11, 2004 by Bev Stapleton Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 This, however, was what I was able to enjoy last weekend. A nice walk to a Derbyshire pub from a camp site - the oncoming rainclouds heading towards us in the distance: Quote
couw Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 ey bev, that "garden" looks a bloody mess! and what do you want TWO ponds for? you will drown in one when returning home with your head full of beverage one day- Quote
Christiern Posted July 11, 2004 Author Report Posted July 11, 2004 Bev, your back yard photo had me looking for a dog in the wreck of a car, a small fence that hangs on one hinge.....and Hyacinth Bucket. Sorry, Bouquet! Quote
7/4 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 what do you want TWO ponds for? One for each foot? Quote
Christiern Posted July 11, 2004 Author Report Posted July 11, 2004 Rachel, I'd spend a lot of time in that living room. Quote
couw Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Rachel, I'd spend a lot of time in that living room. yeah but what's with the fuzzy pic? window needs cleaning? Quote
rachel Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 My, Couw... aren't you just bubbling over with positivity today.... That pic was taken w/a Polaroid instant camera, so I'd say it's not too bad considering. ... and my cleaning *guy* keeps my windows in great shape, FWIW.... Quote
couw Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 My, Couw... aren't you just bubbling over with positivity today.... guess what, we had MORE rain today, been like this (heavy rainshower, sunshine, rain, sun, rain,...) for almost two monts now. Might as well have been living in the subtropics near the sea somewhere, thought it's not as nicely warm here by far. Not grumpy though, just that this weather stimulates my observational skills. I think Quote
rachel Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I thought it was humidity... Well, it is Indiana afterall... Quote

Why two ponds? I just like ponds. Also less space to fill in with stuff that needs lots of work. Quote
