couw Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 Has his Atlantic disc ever been released on CD? I have one track (I think the title was "White Sand") on an LP compilation, that's it. yes, Koch released it in 2000 comes recommended Quote
Clunky Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 as by chance I've been spinning "Have no fear" all week in the car, and whilst his phrasing and tone is an acquired taste, once you've got it...... ....So I ordered this one to get a flavour of what Vonski is like now. Quote
Nate Dorward Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Thanks for the info on the Atlantic/Koch. By the way, is the encounter with Yusef Lateef (I think just called Tenors, on Lateef's YAL label) worth a listen? The pairing sounds intriguing. Quote

Yeah, it's really good. I concur. At times its a little difficult to tell the two tenors apart and the music is very loose, but it is an engaging listen. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Now I gotta go back & get the Nessa release.... I issued 2 lps, reissued one on cd (with a bonus track) and my Japanese licensee issued the other one with another bonus track. I have had a small number of the Japanese issue for sale and note I only have 5 copies left. Not sure I can get more so I might issue it in the next year. Serenade & Blues ncd-11 Have No Fear Bomba 22025 (ncd-6) Quote
Nate Dorward Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 Chuck--thanks for the info. I gotta chunk of reviewer's credit coming my way from Cadence at year's end so I'll get Serenade then (plus that Air disc)...but might come looking for that Bomba reissue... Quote
blue lake Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Oh wow, that drum/saxophone duo section near the end of "Have No Fear" is killin', as exciting as Trane with Roy Haynes doing "Impressions" at Newport, for that matter, which is not something you'll hear on the new Premonition recording. Damn! Yes, I need a Bomba -- this lp is getting on in days. Quote
