Guest ariceffron Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 can somone or multiple people please comment on this atlantic lp for me. thanks! Quote
David Ayers Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Superb and a must. I read one comment on the solo on Cross Breeding which described it as the greatest tenor solo on record (I wish I could remember who wrote that). That's open to debat I suppose, but it is pretty remarkable. Just buy the record, don't even think about it. Quote
JohnS Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Not played for a while but when it first came out on lp it was probably the most played of my Atlantic Ornettes. Don't see any reason to change my mind now. As Jim says, go for it. Quote
ralphie_boy Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 I agree with the others - Ornette is wonderful on Tenor - he should have played it more. Quote
Guest youmustbe Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Yup, Ornette is 'sexier' on Tenor. The Rhino LP reissue sounds great. Quote
Guest ariceffron Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 i listened to the lp today but didnt get it cause i didnt have any money but indeed it was very very enjoyable. ornette sounds good on tenor. i could still tell in a second who was playing. it was a good lp. all the songs kind of sounded similar but his soloing was out of control. mailman Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Like all Ornette's Atlantic session this is a fine session. Not quite as essential as some of the others but still very very good. Pick it up if it's available on CD or if you can find it on vinyl. Quote
