Spontooneous Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Mine as well. Listening to the bonus disk now. Me three. The material on the bonus disc is familiar and beloved. The other show is new to me, though. Quote
Roundsound Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I went to see the Grateful Dead movie last night. Sad to say that when I paid for the tickets, I said: "Two seniors for the Grateful Dead". Quote
jazzbo Posted May 6, 2011 Author Report Posted May 6, 2011 SQ is very good. I went to see the Grateful Dead movie last night. Sad to say that when I paid for the tickets, I said: "Two seniors for the Grateful Dead". Hey, there's no shame in that! Hope it was better attended than the showing I went to on the first "GD Movie day." And really, I think they just broadcast the DVD for the movie itself. And the sound was great until someone who kept shouting "turn it up" went out and convinced someone to turn it up. It then had a steely digital sound and was a bit too loud. Quote
orchiddoctor Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 I did the prescription thing for the Road Trips. I knew Dr. Orchid would have wanted me to. Take 3 discs and call me in the morning. Quote

orchiddoctor Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Hello Bill, hope all is going well. Great. Just got hired to teach at North Georgia College and State University. Now maybe I can afford Europe '72. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 5, 2011 Author Report Posted June 5, 2011 Awesome news! I'm hoping I can do a job search and get hired soon myself. Quote
mjzee Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Just got an email that they're shipping Philly 4/6/82. Quote
jazzbo Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 Got mine on Saturday. Not my favorite release this year. Quote
.:.impossible Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 I pulled out the 11/93 JGB Hampton show this afternoon just for the "Shining Star". Thanks for everything. Quote
Spontooneous Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Just got an email that they're shipping Philly 4/6/82. Just heard it. I'm a little underwhelmed. It's interesting to note that Bob does more to mess up the show than smacked-out Jerry does, however. Quote
vajerzy Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 It was just Ok for me....the writeup in the booklet seemed to be reaching a bit as I listened to it. Now the calm before the storm- when the Europe 72 starts shipping. Quote
Dave James Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Surprised no one has mentioned that today is the 16th anniversary of Jerry Garcia's passing. Here's my own little tribute. A late in the game video with some really nice guitar work in the inimitable Garcia style . He was, for better or for worse, one of a kind. Quote
John L Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 16 years? It's amazing how time flies. Jerry Garcia was certainly one of a kind. Fortunately, he also might have been the most recorded artist in history. So there are almost endless opportunities to continue to connect with him musically. That is something that I love to do on a regular basis. Quote
mjzee Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 No track list yet: Europe 72, vol. 2 Quote
Quincy Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 I spoke too soon: Track list They did a nice job of providing tracks from shows that weren't as widely circulated as others from this tour. Either that or they looked at my collection and picked out songs from the 1/2 dozen shows I don't have. The Dark Star > Other One is an especially sweet combo to put on this highly affordable set. jazzbo Posted September 20, 2011 Author Report Posted September 20, 2011 Great news about Europe '72 shows: You clamored. You cried. You called so loudly for single shows from the much-touted tour of '72, we had no choice but to listen! We're proud to announce that we'll be releasing all 22 Europe '72 shows individually, in the order that they occurred, by the end of the calendar year. So if you missed the chance to buy the big one, wanted to collect them all without breaking the bank in one fell swoop, or you're just starting to hear how amazing these shows really sound... you can now get on the bus with first 6 shows from Wembley, Newcastle, Aarhus, and Tivoli. Next stop: Germany and France. Quote

I couldn't justify buying the whole shebang as I already have all but 5 and so many haven't been played in many years. But I can see buying a few that I haven't heard and possibly upgrading a couple I have. Edited September 21, 2011 by Quincy Quote
mjzee Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Weren't some of these already available as Dick's Picks or as individual releases (Steppin' Out, Rockin' the Rhein, etc.)? Quote
jazzbo Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 Yes, one (two?) Dick Picks and those you mention. . .but not all or many were complete shows. And the releases sound a lot better now than they did then. And for many fans this is THE best tour. My complete set arrives Thursday. Quote
Quincy Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) Weren't some of these already available as Dick's Picks or as individual releases (Steppin' Out, Rockin' the Rhein, etc.)? Technically they weren't Dick's Picks as that series was limited to shows that were 2 track. Europe was multi-tracked. Rockin' is the only complete show released from Europe. 100 Year Hall got the "good stuff" but is incomplete. To assist with what from Europe (or any other period) has been officially released this site is very helpful as it does it by date & venue. Edited September 21, 2011 by Quincy Quote
