John L
One of the very best post '78 shows: http://www.archive.org/details/gd80-11-29.wise.sacks.2409.sbeok.shnf Thanks. I haven't heard that one yet, but I like very much the following night (11/30/80) at Fox Theater in Atlanta. In fact, I think that someone on this forum hipped me to that one. Steve Reynolds
liking Rocking on the Rhein - great sound and the piano sounds wonderful I often like the band with just the 1 drummer still not liking the 1989 sets as much as a couple of friends - Without a Net and the new 3 CD and DVD from JFK - Myland is just too busy and the band sometimes noodles... for me I like the Hartford 1977 (with a great Terrapin) and the dicks picks from March 24, 1973 as much as anything I have
mjzee
Amazon has most of the Dick's Picks series on mp3 @ $14.99 each. I think that's a price drop, tho there's no indication of such. Some, like the 4-cd sets, seem like great deals.
mjzee
The Dick's Picks series and other live packages have dropped at eMusic, with good pricing.
jazzbo
I did the prescription thing for the Road Trips. I knew Dr. Orchid would have wanted me to.

Peter Johnson
What happened to Dr. Orchid? Miss him 'round these parts... I did the prescription thing for the Road Trips. I knew Dr. Orchid would have wanted me to.
Dave James
I did the prescription thing for the Road Trips. I knew Dr. Orchid would have wanted me to. Prescription or subscription? I'd go with prescription. The Dead is good for whatever ails you.
vajerzy
I'm going to do the subscription series as well....can you imagine the prices for the "bonus" disc? I was wondering whether the bonus disc will be the free downloads from the 30 days of Dead
jazzbo
It's a pre-subscription! You can buy all the discs that will come out in the Road Trip series next year in advance, get a free bonus disc no one else will, and free shipping on all the releases. Details are on the web site. John L
My Lord! This is great music, indeed. Maybe it makes sense to take a second mortgage to get this one....
Chalupa
Definitely one of the high water(the?) marks for the band. I have most of this already in pretty good versions BUT... it would nice to hear this all cleaned up. Hopefully Norman will keep his digital trickery to a minimum. I recall some rec.music.gdead (I think) prank years ago about such a thing. I knew it'd happen someday, but it's still hard to believe it's finally going to happen. jazzbo
LOL! Wow. Unexpectedly cool. They're going for it while there's a remnant of a market for discs. They must need some money. "We're going to have to sell 3,000". . . I don't think they are going to have a problem, or more accurately I guess I'd be surprised if they didn't have to worry about that. That necessary pre-sales target is actually a smart idea in this day and age of huge uncertainty about the CD market. I wouldn't be so sure that they will easily meet the target, considering that the prospect of spending 450 dollars on CDs in 2011 is not a given for most people, and a good portion of true Dead fanatics have most of these soundboards at any rate. But I will try to do my part and put in a pre-order soon.
Chalupa
Dead.net posted last night that they were going to stop taking orders "temporarily" in order to catch up w/ the flood of orders they got yesterday.

I wonder how many orders are from merchants buying 100 copies, to appear on ebay at $2,500 a set? Grateful Dead / Rhino are a joke.

I had to laugh when I read this over at Hoffman: "They're obviously idiots over there at Rhino/Grateful Dead, that's obvious. They announce a box, we all bite, then they can't handle it. At $450 a pop. Ridiculous."

AmirBagachelles
Rhino is a joke, and very slimey. More than a few music industry people do very well selling their Rhino comp booty, it's no secret. (IRS, are you listening?) The website fiasco this morning is just the latest wonder. As for the music, this tour is the apex of all rock, imnsho.
John L
You can now put in your name to (supposedly) reserve one of the first 3000.
