7/4 Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Anybody who doesn't list Wario's Woods in their Top 25 SNES games obviously needs reeduaction. or reprograming. Quote
BruceH Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Check out this list of "must own" jazz titles on Amazon.com link Don't you dare ask me which one is the ONE! "Boss Guitar" by Wes? Some folks have a really different idea of "jazz" is all I can say. Quote
BruceH Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Man, that list sucks. Ah, but the phrase "...will lead you down a smoother path" makes it all worthwhile. Quote
chris olivarez Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 As King Arthur might have said-Surely you joust!!!!! Quote

Jazzmoose Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 "Awesome combination of New Age and Smooth Jazz..." Isn't that what they make industrial strength blenders for? Quote

JohnS Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 One-Boss Guitar. Can't say that the others mean very much to me. Quote
scottb Posted June 30, 2004 Author Report Posted June 30, 2004 I think this guy must have 23 "jazz" discs in his collection, all of them listed. The Sade and Clapton are just fillers to get to 25. Actually we shouldn't be too hard on the poor guy. Anyone who tries to discover jazz at their local music store will end up with a similar collection. (Not even Kind Of Blue? That's indicative of how bad the situation is.) I've said it before, jazz doesn't sell because it's not for sale. Quote
Shawn Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Well...just to clarify...I'm not a psychopath...and I love Albert Ayler. I guess it wasn't too obvious that I was having a crappy day at work yesterday, huh? Quote

Along similar lines, despite being their customer for years and ordering very specific types of music, Columbia House and BMG send me the most mystifying catalogs. The catalogs heavily feature smooth jazz if any jazz, exactly the kind of crap this dude has put on his list. They try to push pop and country on me and all types of horrible music, hilarious the stuff they think I might be interested in--I have to scour their websites to order what I want. Shawn Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Definitely correct about the horrible jazz sections at many major retail outlets. I was spoiled by the years of living in cities where it was relatively easy to find record stores with great jazz selections. Now that I'm back in a rural area again, the only type of stores that are within easy driving distance are of the usual Target/Wal-Mart/Mall variety. Sometimes, you can find a handful of decent discs (of course they are ones that you almost always invariably own) hiding amongst a plethora of garbage resembling this guy's list. I really feel sorry for the people that might be just getting an interest in jazz and end up buying this kind of crapola. Quote
