chris olivarez Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 I just plunked down for the CTI Allstars "Jazz At The Hollywood Bowl". The feedback that I have read indicated the audio quality is good. Sorry about the Mobley Street Singer if it makes you feel any better I've been torched a time or two but since I'm a dice roller when it comes to this sort of thing I expect to come up snake eyes periodically. Sorry about the Mobley Street Singer if it makes you feel any better I've been torched a time or two but since I'm a dice roller when it comes to this sort of thing I expect to come up snake eyes periodically. I'll just chalk it up as a lesson learned. Having just recently gotten back into vinyl in a big way, I'm quick to jump on stuff that looks good without investigating first. I'll be more careful next time... -_- Quote
chris olivarez Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 That's a good approach Street Singer and I use it as well but I also let my impulses guide me when it comes to music buying. Most of the time it works for me but sometimes it doesn't- C'Est La Vie I guess. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Just ordered three Clarke Boland Big Band cds that finally came in (had myself down for email notification). Shouldn't have. Shouldn't buy any cds! But I did. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 My recent bitches w/ DGA get the same results as Street Singer... I often will order more than a couple and have them sent via Media Mail to save some on shipping. Invariably, and it has even been three orders in a row, at least one jewel cover would be cracked as well as missing hold down teeth for one or more of what might be in the package. Every time I would e-mail them about the damages and they always laid claim with the Postal Service and not how they packed it. The last time I complained the shipping manager returned with a reply that 'if I did not want my discs to be damaged I should upgrade and have them sent via priority or with overnight delivery'. THE BASTARDS! Quote

THE BASTARDS! I hate that kind of attitude also. It doesn't matter whether shipped media, priority, express, what have you: if it's packed well, it will arrive intact. The P.O. treats them all the same- what differs is how they are packed. Quote

jazzbo Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 My last order was a copy of "Gitte Haening and the Clarke Boland Big Band" to replace some worn vinyl, and the fourth volume of Solal Vogue recordings. Should have it soon. Can't wait! Quote
JSngry Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 Just had an email saying that Big John's 'Minor Swing' is out of stock. Why the hell list it then? B$st%%rds.. They seem to keep a relatively small inventory on hand, probably for economical reasons. Do the "notify me when this item is back in stock" thing (or whatever it's called) and jump when you get the notification. It also seems like they get things back in stock once a certain number of such requests have been made. Pretty shrewd inventory control, even if it is frustrating as hell sometimes, especially if you're slow to pull the trigger. but yeah, they will have it again. Quote
