I just plunked down for the CTI Allstars "Jazz At The Hollywood Bowl". The feedback that I have read indicated the audio quality is good. Sorry about the Mobley Street Singer if it makes you feel any better I've been torched a time or two but since I'm a dice roller when it comes to this sort of thing I expect to come up snake eyes periodically.

I'll just chalk it up as a lesson learned. Having just recently gotten back into vinyl in a big way, I'm quick to jump on stuff that looks good without investigating first. I'll be more careful next time... -_-

My recent bitches w/ DGA get the same results as Street Singer...

I often will order more than a couple and have them sent via Media Mail to save some on shipping. Invariably, and it has even been three orders in a row, at least one jewel cover would be cracked as well as missing hold down teeth for one or more of what might be in the package. Every time I would e-mail them about the damages and they always laid claim with the Postal Service and not how they packed it. The last time I complained the shipping manager returned with a reply that 'if I did not want my discs to be damaged I should upgrade and have them sent via priority or with overnight delivery'. THE BASTARDS! :tdown

Just ordered three Clarke Boland Big Band cds that finally came in (had myself down for email notification).

Shouldn't have. Shouldn't buy any cds! But I did.

Lon - I did too!

Hope we both get all 3.

Hard (impossible) to resist.

I hate that kind of attitude also. :rmad:

It doesn't matter whether shipped media, priority, express, what have you: if it's packed well, it will arrive intact. The P.O. treats them all the same- what differs is how they are packed.

I swear that most of the cds I get from CD Universe had cracked cases  !

Two Esther Phillips compilation CDs, a Marvin Stamm Verve LP w/arrangements by Johnny Carisi, an Akyoshi/Tabakin RCA LP, and a sealed LP copy of I FELL IN LOVE WITH A PROSTITUTE, a classic sermon by the Rev. Jasper Williams that I'd only had on cassette.

I just had to have that Big John Patton 'Minor Swing' on DIW (it won't be on there for long I think) but whilst I was there I got the Mabern 'Straight Street', the Byrd 'Transition Sessions' and the Westbrook 'Love Songs'.

Oh dear......

My last order was a copy of "Gitte Haening and the Clarke Boland Big Band" to replace some worn vinyl, and the fourth volume of Solal Vogue recordings.

Should have it soon. Can't wait!

Just had an email saying that Big John's 'Minor Swing' is out of stock.

Why the hell list it then?

B$st%%rds.. :rmad:

They seem to keep a relatively small inventory on hand, probably for economical reasons. Do the "notify me when this item is back in stock" thing (or whatever it's called) and jump when you get the notification.

It also seems like they get things back in stock once a certain number of such requests have been made. Pretty shrewd inventory control, even if it is frustrating as hell sometimes, especially if you're slow to pull the trigger. but yeah, they will have it again.
