Which european board members have already met in person? I met Michel Devos from Belgium, who hasn't been active here recently, a few months ago.

I don't think it is realistic to expect many members coming together, even from one single country (unless Organissimo the band makes a world tour :))

An alternative could be to meet in a online chat room, which is of course not comparable to a real meeting, but more lively and fun than just posting messages in a board.

Any board members from Europe interested in having a couple of beers somewhere in Europe (except for France where I can't communicate=survive) while listening to BFT #10 on repeat mode, then drive or ride back home?

But would French posters be invited? :P

I guess the French would invite, even! Where to meet if not in Paris

And we all should read a daily dose of Balzac, Walter Benjamin, Le livre des cent, Baudelaire and other such healthy stuff, in order to be prepared for some rites de passage...

Ive met JohnS on many occassions ,he only lives about 10 miles away from me.

Weve been to a couple of gigs together. He's a top gentleman , very generous with an amazing knowledge of jazz & a record collection to match it .

Nothing I can do but go with that suggestion.

As for Rockefeller Center's reservations, let me tell him that German-speaking people are welcome here ever since after the end of World War Two and I have yet to hear of one of them not being able to survive here. From those I know, they're just doing fine...

yet, probably somewhere in central W-Germany would be very suitable geographically speaking. Is Luxembourg big enough for all of us?

If you add Belgian Luxembourg...

just fill them German speaking dudes up with some wine and they'll start talking French in no time.

Nope.

I start speaking Danish by default.

I never could figure out how to get the (non-existant) French going.

Cheers!

How about an evening in the beginning of September...? If the old, green Mercedes holds together me and my fiancée are going from Sweden down to Nice about that time. We're at least going through Germany, Holland and possibly Switzerland on our way. And perhaps Luxembourg, to get some cheap petrol... ;)

Who speaks Spanish? brownie, you do!

I can hardly express myself in written English, leave alone oral English!

Well, I started studying German about twenty years ago. It lasted a couple of months! :D

And my wife speaks good French. Maybe she could translate... though she HATES jazz (at least when horns are being blown... not to mention trumpet high notes: she drives mad!!!)

Your wife could talk with couw - he loves that other trumpet player, you know? And to imitate trumpet players that screech (as they say), they needn't verbally understand each other :g

ubu roi habla español! Chicas come patatas fritas... socialismo o muerte... viva josé martí! and so on...

Seriously: I learned spanish for three or four years at school, and at the end I was on the same level as with French, but I've lost them both since then...

Me speak spanish??? The answer is NO!

To my utter shame and despite dozens of visits to this beautiful country, I have barely managed to grasp a few words.

I just include some of the spanish words I know from time to time. It's supposed to make me sound smart but I'm just dumb!
