brownie Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 I've told my son to skip Father's Day several years ago. Everyday is a celebration here! Somehow Quote
couw Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 somehow eastern Germany is way ahead of the rest of the world on this one. We had our "Männertag" some time ago, on jesus-go-to-heaven-day to be precise. We get tot drink a lot and our wives/female friends tend to support that behaviour. I'm all for it. This daddy day is nice, but doesn't quite allow the guys their day as it reminds them of their duty as a dad a lot. Gotta love them marxists. Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Do I count? My wife bought a Father's Day card for our "son," Coltrane, to give to his "Daddy". In case you've missed the pics before, here's one shortly after we adopted him. Its amazing how quick they grow up! Quote
Big Al Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Thanks, maren! What a sweet and thoughtful thread! (Kinda makes me wonder if any of us dads/guys started a "Happy Mother's Day" thread?) Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I keep getting asked "what I want to do on Father's Day" when in actuality, I just want to completely veg out. Of course, as all Dads know, this is impossible. Unfortunately, my own father was just diagnosed with colon cancer so that certainly puts things in perspective! Live it up people... you only get one shot at it. Later, Kevin Quote
JSngry Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Sorry to hear about your dad, Kevin. That's gotta hurt. Quote
bertrand Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Kevin, Best wishes to you and your father in this difficult time. Bertrand. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 (edited) Kevin, Best wishes to you and your father in this difficult time. Bertrand. Thanks Bertrand & Jim... my Dad's using today to engage in his favorite pastime which is golf. He's probably on the 4th green by now (he's in a father/son tournament with one of my brothers). I still don't know what I'm going to do today. Any second now, I'll start getting asked, "What're we doing today," and sadly, "Veg out," is not an acceptable answer. Later, Kevin EDIT: Well, it already started 2 seconds after I hit "submit". Edited June 20, 2004 by Kevin Bresnahan Quote
J.A.W. Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Kevin, Best wishes to you and your father. Quote
snowflake Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Happy Father's Day to Randissimo too!! Quote
randissimo Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Kevin, Best wishes to you and your father in this difficult time. Bertrand. Kevin, stay positive and supportive and enjoy your father while he is here. I lost my mother to lung cancer April 30th. She was diagnosed in November, 2002. I spent as much time as I could with her and always kept a positive attitude. BTW, she lived a year longer than the doc predicted.. Quote
JSngry Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 I still don't know what I'm going to do today. Any second now, I'll start getting asked, "What're we doing today," and sadly, "Veg out," is not an acceptable answer. Make it so, dude, MAKE IT SO!!!! Quote
Upright Bill Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 (edited) Randy, Rick Hicks, Uncle Skid and I were talking about your Father last week. I didn't know that he was a Jazz musician as well. Seems it definately runs in the family! Edited June 20, 2004 by Upright Bill Quote
Joe G Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 And, Arno Marsh is coming up to play a week's worth of dates on the north/west side of the state in August! Quote
alankin Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Kevin, Sorry to hear the news about your Dad. Good luck to him, I have a friend who beat it. I lost my own dad last year, so I'm thinking about him a bit today. Quote
alankin Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Maran, Thanks for the thread. I'm a dad as well. (Two girls, 16 & 10.) The bad news is that I've been fighting off a fever for almost a week. And I worked about 60 hours last week including at midnight at 3 am this morning. Bah. The good news is that my kids will be coming over to my house this morning. Maybe we'll walk over to the coffee shop; I'm not up to anything more ambitious... Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Thanks Maren! I'm a Dad too! (I'll forgive you for forgetting to mention me... ) Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Thanks. I have a gig today. Sixth one in four days. Oh well. Making the bread. Quote
