Big Al Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Charisma (TOCJ) is on over here! How is that one? I guess it's worth picking up the TOCJ over the domestic on this one, ya? I really like it, and I'd agree that it is underrated. I picked up the TOCJ a few years ago when I was on a big Cedar Walton kick, and I wasn't disappointed. I've never heard the domestic version, but the TOCJ sounds mighty fine to me! Actually, the domestic version came out in '97, so I guess it can't sound all that bad. OH well, whichever I find first and cheapest is the one I'll get! Quote

sidewinder Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 (edited) 'Sonic Boom' on deck this morning. This one is hugely under-rated and the partnership with David 'Fathead' Newman comes off superbly. The repeat performance on Lonnie Smith's 'Think !' is no slouch, either.. take5 Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Just got The Gigolo recently, listened to it yesterday, plan on doing so again this afternoon... love his style, man. Quote
Big Al Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Been listening to Sixth Sense and Charisma all day. Great stuff all around. I love these sextet albums that Morgan did in the late 60's, especially when he was working with Jackie McLean and Billy Higgins. And speaking of all three men, they absolutely SMOKE on Jack Wilson's Easterly Winds. MAN, what a fantastic album that is!!! Quote

sidewinder Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 'Sixth Sense' and 'Caramba' were the first Morgan albums I ever owned. Both on Liberty cassette cutouts. They got worn out within 6 months thanks to the endless plays they got. Still love those sessions ! Quote
Morganized Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Currently listening to Kelly Great (thanks to a fellow board member) with Lee as a sideman. Quote
