stuartjewkes Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 I can't believe the price of that! I need to convince the missus that it's a good idea for me to buy that even though I have been made redundant. Quote

Adam Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 The Revenant Charley Patton as well. http://www.cargorecords.co.uk/release/42 But are these discount prices only in the UK? Quote
stuartjewkes Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 I can't believe the price of that! I need to convince the missus that it's a good idea for me to buy that even though I have been made redundant. Sorry to hear that. I'm 'Mosaiced out' but will also try to scrape the pennies together for this gem. Thanks mate, I'm sure it'll be sorted soon enough. What I didn't initally notice with this is that it is for pre-order to be released at the end of this month and a list price of £35.99. Did this set never get a release in the UK before? That would explan the £90 price tag on the one copy I've seen in a shop early this year. Even if I miss the cheap deal I'll be able to part with £35.99 without too many tears in the near future. sidewinder Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 I don't think it got the UK release the first time out. Early ones must have been US imports. Quote
king ubu Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Had them put a Patton aside... credit card issues This is quite a deal, and shipping to Europe (or rather: Switzerland...) is less than 6 pounds... probably the suckas at customs won't let this slip by, though... I'm not sure if this had been sold out already, but release date is given as August 11, but yesterday and this morning it was "sold out", but when I hit refresh today it was available... they told me it should be around a while. sidewinder Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Had them put a Patton aside... Too bad it's not Big John Patton... Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 That Charley Patton box is well worth it. Quote
king ubu Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 still waiting for the Patton to arrive... I'm a bit worried by now as the site says 1 week shipping within yurp, it's been 2 weeks now. Quote
John L Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Had them put a Patton aside... Too bad it's not Big John Patton... The Charley Patton box is tremendous, some of the greatest blues ever recorded. Quote
sidewinder Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Just got an out of stock email. That's very odd for what is supposed to be 'pre-order' John. Must say I haven't tried ordering yet - I wonder if this one is for real? Quote
king ubu Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 Well, I was in touch with a guy from the site (had them put a Patton aside for me), and he was very quick and kind, so I guess you'd best send them an email and inquire... I will inquire about my Patton shipment as well if I don't get it next week! Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 I just got the out of stock notice as well... Quote
king ubu Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Your "out of stock" notices are about the Ayler, right? Not the Patton? Quote
king ubu Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 My Patton box arrived last night! WOW! Holy, this looks great! The only drawback is that at the back it's fallen apart already, even though of course it was shrinkwrapped and all... no biggie, and it's massiv enough not to fall to pieces anyway, just the "hinges" (?) at the back were sort of stuck to the outher cardboard, like in some huge old accounting book or something, and that's not holding together. Anyway, it looks terrific, and it will likely take me years to actually play all the music and really dig into this, but it's been on my watchlist for a loooong time, and I'm sure whenever I feel like getting deeper into blues territory, this will be a great thing to explore! king ubu Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 oh, and I think delivery took so long because the dumbasses from DHL or whoever it was thought my address was non-existing... at least that's what one of the stickers on the parcel said... idiots - their job is to deliver mail but they can't even handle maps and plans and phone books... JohnS Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Ayler box shipped. Delivery in 2-5 days! Quote
sidewinder Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Ayler box shipped. Delivery in 2-5 days! Whoah !! Quote
sidewinder Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Now back up to £37 on HMV ! Quote
JohnS Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Just received. My anticipation was slightly tempered as I'd heard the music thanks to Gary (still missed from the board). But the box and it's contents restored the wow factor. A real bargain. Quote
gnhrtg Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Fabulous deal on the box coming up from HMV UK: Ayler Box Thanks a lot for letting us know. I placed an order for the Ayler and Patton boxes soon after seeing this post. The Patton is already here and the Ayler should arrive in the next couple of days. Great prices and for once I think it actually cost them more to mail the things than what they charged me. Quote
