tooter Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Ten tracks have been issued on Columbia and Laserlight but checking Groovin' High, Dizzy Atmosphere (aka Dynamo) and All the Things You Are seem to show that those three at least were played by a group that didn't include Charlie Christian. The guitarist seems to have been Remo Palmieri in a Charlie Parker group (Guild February 28 1945) I am not sure about this and wonder if anyone can throw any light on the matter; verify the complete personnel listings if possible. Even less sure about Hot House. Quote
Harold_Z Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 There's a Laserlight under Charlie Christian's name that has a few of the Minton's Jam Session tracks and the Bird/Diz stuff you mention. The Bird/Diz are the classic sides that usually come out under the Savoy banner, and were originally on Guild and perhaps Manor. Hot House is one of these.. The laserlight gives no indication on the cover that it's not completely a Charlie Christian disc. Standard cheapo label procedure when it comes to notes, but still a good buy for the price. Quote
brownie Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 The sides with Remo Palmier are from the following session: February 28, 1945 Dizzy Gillespie Sextet: Dizzy Gillespie, tp, Charlie Parker, as, Clyde Hart, p, Palmier, g, Slam Stewart, b, Cozy Coles, dm. Groovin' High All the Things You Are Dizzy Atmosphere Guild record session. Historic sides! Quote
tooter Posted June 10, 2004 Author Report Posted June 10, 2004 Thanks guys. I expected [The Immortal Charley Christian] to be all tracks with him included in the line-up somewhere. Too naive I guess. You have confirmed what I suspected. Quote
037 Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 They also list Thelonious Monk as being on the recordings. He's not ! "7" Quote
