Obviously Clark is playing these days well within his comfort zone, and why not. But the fact is that at his peak, Clark Terry was a very original and incisive player. Listen to his work with Bob Brookmeyer. At his best he was a tough player and a very long way from the easy-going mainstream player he appears to be at present-day jazz festivals. Quote
