SS,

I'll suffer along with you. I can cut the soft drinks and chocolate with no problem. I eat fast food more than I should (during the work week) but always try to pick the most healthy item that is available. I also love salads, but watch out for the dressing!

Well, I don't eat traditional fast food, but I tell you what...I'll swear off my weakness, frozen foods (probably just as bad for you!) for the month to lend moral support. Maybe we can both do ourselves some good! :)

what is your definition of fast food?

lady at work says if you walk up to the counter and place your order it's f.f.

if you sit down and the waiter/waitress takes your order it not considered f.f.

wings are a great example

at the "wing stop" you order them at the counter and at the local bar they take your order

also, can i eat french fries made at home????

Sure, if you take real, honest-to-Idaho potatoes, cut 'em up and fry 'em, you can eat them. But if you mean french fries from the frozen food section, read the bag: you're just fooling yourself. ;)

Yeah man, I'll suffer with you. I've been trying to do the Subway/Jimmy John's thing instead of fast food, but I got freaked out last weekend. Turns out that those subway subs with only 6 grams of fat are essentially plain. Which I knew. But, I sat down and figured out how much fat all of those goodies add up to, and before I knew it, I was eating 32 grams of fat in my Italian BMT sub. GEEEEEZ!!!!

So, I'm trying to be more careful. It's time for me to get back down to dating weight again, and I'm trying. Walking 3 miles a day, trying to get back down to only a pack of smokes a day, and attempting to cut out the soda and just drink water (as expensive as it is, I REALLY like the taste of Dasani, and it's way better for you, so it's a good assault on my wallet).

Any other tips from those of you who have dropped some tonnage?

Way to go, dude! :tup

I'm afraid I didn't make it; I was in Trader Joes and saw the Mandarin Chicken...somehow forgot all about the "no frozen food month" deal. :( Oh well, at least I stayed away from the Stouffer's frozen saltfat meals...

I watched the 'Super Size Me' movie last night. It was enjoyable, interesting, and funny. The end of the movie, after the guy ate McDonald's for an entire month, was more depressing than I'd have expected. I didn't know too much fast food would have a negative effect on the liver.

It's difficult to avoid McDonald's completely in the good ol' USA. If you're on the road, traveling, need a quick lunch, etcetera... McDonald's is just too handy. I don't believe I'll be eating at McDonald's again for a long while, however.

And, what is in those McDonald's chicken nuggets? Anything an average person can purchase in an average grocery store? McBleck. icon8.gif

Dude, they never claimed the BMT was low in fat. It's got all kinds of sausagey meats in it. Not much room to wiggle there. Even without the mayo/cheese/etc it'd still be fattening.

If you go for a veggie, turkey, or roast beef (without mayo or pickles) you'll be in pretty good shape, even with the cheese.

Needles to say, I do this relatively often. B-)

You mean sausagey "meats", don't you.

To help get yourself off all the crap, read Eric Schlosser's "Fast Food Nation." It explains how tired old dairy cattle are ground up and mixed with beef fat imported from Australia all for your quarter pounder. Yum. And there's more. Like the explanation of how all the ecoli tainted shit (i.e., manure) gets mixed up in there, too. The turd sandwich may have gotten himself elected, but it's also what's for dinner.
