That happens to me every time I go to the dentist! I guess they think it enhances a majority of the population's ability to relax, but it just gives me agitas. I find myself hoping for Sanborn or the Yellowjackets...

My dentist always asks me, "Would like some music, to kind of... relax you?" I always respond, "No thanks, it will only aggravate me." My dentist gives me a confused look every time. For me, the silence is better than the dentist's music.

Sounds like my uncle's office (orthodontist). Every time I went, that's what they'd be listening to. My aunt, the office manager, told me they had a 5-disc changer in the office, with 5-discs of Kenny G in it.

Another reason to avoid the dentist for another 19 years. 1985 was not a good year.

Do you not go to the dentist often?

I avoided going to the dentist for many years. I brushed my teeth all the time hoping that nothing bad would happen. Finally, the anxiety of it made me go to the dentist. He found nothing wrong except that I needed a good cleaning. He suggested I don't wait so long next time. I get a cleaning every six months these days. I can't take the dentist-avoidance anxiety again.

Hmmm.... I have a dental appt today. My Dentist has switched from a smooth jazz station to an oldies station. Ahh, much better.

My dentist plays country music and once took his office staff to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. I get my tooth cleaned every six months, even if it don't need it.

My last visit to the dentist started with the local smoth jazz station. Before he started work he changed it to WBGO, then it turned the day into the VISIT FROM HELL. I'll never go back there again.

One might say the "smooth" jazz would have been an early warning, but I say the rant about ...

1. gas prices

2. the prisoner scandal in Iraq ("we're only doing to then what they would do to us!")

3. his two tours of Nam

4. he thinks Kerry flip flops, but isn't voting for shrub.

should have been a warning.

He totally fucked up the anesthetic and wouldn't give me anything more. Very painfull.

Unprofessional and unethical. I was going to write a letter to the dean of the school (this guy should stick to teaching) but my sister showed up for a week and caused all sorts of other problems. So I gave up on the dean letter writing scheme.

I'll be checking in with my parents dentist soon.
