7/4 Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I worked in New York during 9/11. Our offices were in 5 Penn Plaza, off 34th St. In fact, our office windows faced the Trade Center, so you can imagine what that was like. Yep. The WT were all the way downtown and you were a couple of miles away next to Penn Station. Good thing you were uptown. I know a lot of people who lived in the shadow of the WTC. Almost no one came in the next day, but then the remainder of the week, there were frequent bomb scares with our building, One Penn Plaza and a nearby hotel. At one point, there were probably 2000 people milling about on the sidewalks, trying to decide whether to wait and go back up or to go home. Sounds like someone was calling in bomb scare because they didn't want to work. I was in the city to check on a customer 2 or 3 days after 9/11. Pretty much nobody came to work that week. Quote
