J Larsen
Miles Davis Complete in a Silent Way Sessions record 2 - this set still has a strange sound quality to me. It is a little flat and lacking oomph - maybe getting a couch in the living room this weekend will help, but the effect is far more pronounced on this set than on my other records. Face of the Bass
Today I made a Mosaic purchase that I believe will forever change my life. I bought the Django Reinhardt set, and by early next week I will be sitting back, pretending I am listening to it in a smoky Paris cafe while reading Sartre. sidewinder
That Django set seems to have been in print forever. Currently spinning Count Basie 'Complete Roulette Studio Recordings', LP2. This one and the 'Live' box will be in heavy rotation this weekend. Timeless !
sidewinder
Thad Jones & Mel Lewis LP3. Fabulous set. The improvement in sound over the original Solid States is very significant. Love the booklet too !

Face of the Bass
Beiderbecke, Trumbauer, and Teagarden, Disc 1. The vocals are annoying.

poetrylover3
Thelonious Monk: The Complete Blue Note TM I much prefer this audio to the various CD versions. The discography included is priceless-there's still Monk that's unreleased in the US. Peace, Jeff T

king ubu
I'm enjoying the fact that I finally got a shipping confirmation for my Roach set - phew! The Berigan still hasn't arrived, so I'm looking forward a lot to both of these! During the wait, I'll try and make my way all through the Mildred Bailey, a great one, in my opinion! ghost of miles
Chu Berry, disc 5. The Hampton and Manone sides aren't quite as enjoyable for me so far, but there are some very good moments--Chu's playing on "Sweethearts on Parade" (which really does seem to anticipate Hampton's Jacquet turn in the 1940s) and the modern-sounding "Shufflin' at the Hollywood." mikelz777
The Complete Clef/Verve Count Basie Fifties Studio Recordings-This just came in the mail today. If this band didn't define swing then I don't know what else possibly could.
jazzbo
I'm listening to that set as well. Disc III which I really like. This set is another sonic wonder from the team of Ellen Fitton (tape transfers) and Malcolm Addey (mastering).
