JSngry Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Roy Eldridge, with Oscar Peterson's organ making me wish that this had been the house band for Jack Lalane. Quote
Parkertown Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Last nite: Expoobident session from the Morgan/Shorter VeeJay set. (Master takes only) Quote
Matthew Posted July 6, 2004 Report Posted July 6, 2004 Tal Farlow. This session with Bob Envoldsen, Bill Perkins, Bob Gordon, Monte Budwig, and Larance Marable. Very nice West Coast feel to the whole session, and what a loss in the passing of Bob Gordon. In fact, this Farlow Mosaic has a bittersweet quality to it, in that Eddie Costa & Bob Gordon play great on this set, and both died way too young. Quote
gslade Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Just received the JJ Johnson I have been procrastinating on the purchase of this set way too long Quote
Tony Pusey Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Me too, Bob Brookmeyer select. I am playing this more and more, fast becoming one of my top 2 selects!( With Bud Shank in case you are interested!) Quote

Alfred Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Les McCann - On time I voted for Django in the "Mosiac Guitar Poll Thread". But the Joe Pass box is brilliant too. Quote
vibes Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Chico Hamilton - The Original Chico Hamilton Quintet session. Anyone know what that sound on "Caravan" is? It sounds like money coming out of a cash register or slot machine. Quote

sal Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Johnny Hodges complete Verve small groups - disc 3 This is some beautiful music. It makes me want to stretch my tastes out further from my usual bop/post bop/avant garde bag and explore swing music more deeply. Quote
Uncle Skid Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Morgan/Shorter. (Wayne Shorter - Second Genesis) Not sure which disk(s) this is on, as I made MP3 playlists corresponding to the original album sequences. All the alternate takes are cool, but I prefer to listen to it in album order or random. Quote
Alfred Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 Hodges sessions (1951 - 1955) - again and again and again!!! Quote
