BFrank Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 sampling Anita O'Day as I back it up to my hard drive.... Damn this is one of my fave Mosaics.... Yeah......that's a good one that I still haven't completely wrapped my head around yet. Currently: JJJ, disks 6 & 7 Quote
Free For All Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Currently: JJJ, disks 6 & 7 "Tromboned out" yet BF? Quote
Matthew Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 The Complete Verve Johnny Hodges Small Group Sessions. I can't express how much I love this set. Music from heaven. It's always been my favorite Mosaic. Disk two today, it really is my favorite Mosaic..... ahem..... it's also my only one Quote
BFrank Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Currently: JJJ, disks 6 & 7 "Tromboned out" yet BF? Yeah..........just about (not that there's anything wrong with it). Have to cool it for a while. Quote

Have to cool it for a while. Hey, even I had to pace myself a bit with that one. It's a lot of music to digest in a marathon listening session. Actually, I rarely listen to an entire Mosaic box straight through when I first get it (especially the bigger ones). I tend to burn out and need a little variety, or at least a break. I like to work at it a bit more gradually, smaller bites you know. You guys that listen straight through have more stamina than I do! Rest up for those sessions w/Freddie and Clifford Jordan! They're worth your full attention! Quote
BFrank Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 I don't even listen to the small sets all the way through in one sitting. Definitely a prescription for artist burn-out.....and I don't want to do that with a nice, "complete" Mosaic set. Freddie & Clifford were on disk #6, I think. Sounded pretty sweet........but I wasn't giving it my FULL attention. Plenty of time for that, though. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Just starting up the Andrew Hill Select.. Quote

montg Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Turrentine Disc IV. If pressed I think the Turrentine set might be the one Mosaic I'd take to the proverbial deserted island Quote
Ron S Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Still a great set--not to be missed! I need to sign this guy up as my marketing agent! Only if you first buy the JJJ set. Quote

Still might pull the trigger. My wallet cries: "Mai Mee!" I'l call Mosaic to see if I can wash their windows or something.... Quote
sidewinder Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 My wallet cries: "Mai Mee!" Give it a good kick and tell it to shut up. I find that always helps. Just about to 'crack open' the Kelly/Chambers VeeJay box. Quote
Dave Garrett Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 JJJ, disc 6 - have been making my way through it since it appeared on my doorstep in the middle of last week. Soon to follow: the Four Freshmen set, which I scored a used copy of for $50 earlier today. Now, if I could only duplicate that kind of luck with other Mosaic sets... Quote
