GA Russell Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Curtis Fuller disc 1 I've never warmed up to this, but I listen to it from time to time. It's not bad, but I don't think it's up to Mosaic standards. Quote
John Tapscott Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Curtis Fuller disc 1 I've never warmed up to this, but I listen to it from time to time. It's not bad, but I don't think it's up to Mosaic standards. I think you're right, but be careful. I said essentially the same thing once on the old BNBB and got flamed big time! Quote
GA Russell Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Stan Kenton: Complete Holman/Russo Charts - Disc 1 John, I love this one! I play it a lot. Quote

ghost of miles Posted February 4, 2006 Report Posted February 4, 2006 Art Pepper Mosaic Select - Disc 3 CARL PERKINS! Oh yeah--Carl is a great piano love of mine. Been spending some time the past couple of days with the B. Rich and Jazz Crusaders--not wildly exciting (so far, anyway), but good, solid sets. Really enjoying Sweets Edison in particular on the Rich. Quote

GA Russell Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 It's been a long time since I've played ESP from the Miles 60s Quintet box, so I've pulled it out today. You may disagree, but I think I would place this LP as the dividing line in Miles' career, rather than Bitches Brew as is often done. Quote
tranemonk Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Sonny Stitt Disc 5.... I'm beginning to think this is an underrated set.. by the very few mentions of it on this board... Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Sonny Stitt Disc 5.... I'm beginning to think this is an underrated set.. by the very few mentions of it on this board... I used to have one or two of the Roost LPs but ditched them, because they sounded a bit too much like Bebop. I will buy the set, but only for the Don Patterson material. MG Quote

GA Russell Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Herbie Nichols disc 1 I've enjoyed this more since Chuck pointed out how much he sounded like Mose Allison did. Quote
