B. Goren. Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Byrd & Adams. These recordings are among my favorite BN recordings. Quote

Ron S Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 Johnny Smith - Disc 4... For some reason I keep going back to this set... It seems to be growing on me.... Not as good as the Farlow... . . . and not nearly as cheap. Quote
tranemonk Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 Dizzy Reece Select - Disc 1... Been awhile since I gave this a spin... Quote
Kalo Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 I received the Reece Select in the mail today! Just finished listening to disc 2. Now listening to Andrew Hill Select, Disc 2. This set came in the same package. As did the Art Pepper Select, disc 2 of which will be up next. Quote
John Tapscott Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Count Basie Roulette Studio - All of it, but at the moment disc 4. Quote
king ubu Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I finally played all of the Farlow a few days ago - terrific set, definitely! Then started (finally...) with the Krupa/James one, only disc 1 played so far, but enjoyed it a lot! Those trio with Ventura are pretty nice, too, not just the big band sides! Quote
tranemonk Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Johnny Smith disc V... I'm telling ya (RON!!! ) This set grows on ya!! Quote
tranemonk Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Anita... Disc 9... with Cal Tjader... and later the 3 Sounds... (w/Roy Eldridge!!)) Damn that's a good set.... Quote
sidewinder Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Ah - the Stuff Smith set. That is the one that eluded me.. Have been giving the Wynton Kelly/Paul Chambers Veejay set a good spin over the past few days. This is a mighty fine set, very well re-mastered and with the Kelly/Chambers/Cobb combo operating like a well-oiled engine away from the Miles Davis environment. The inclusion on some tracks of Wayne Shorter, Booker Little, Lee Morgan and Frank Strozier is the icing on the cake. Both this and the Morgan/Shorter Veejay are great sets. Quote
Parkertown Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Horace Parlan, disc 1. Great on a Sunday morning... Quote
