brownie Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Count Basie Clef/Verve, discs 7 and 8. Knew all this stuff but I really did enjoy relistening to those marvelouis sides. Also found the liner notes by Chris Albertson to be full of insight and interesting informations. Excellent job overall! Quote

David Ayers Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Just played the one Ella solo and three duets with Joe Williams on the Basie Clef/Verve Mosaic disk 8. Gems (as the True Blue catalogue would no doubt call them). Quote

Didn't bother with the Mosaic set as I had a few of the sessions on vinyl Actually the LPs do still turn up from time to time. Maybe I'll go that route. I still wish I'd bought it though, seeing as how I saved so much on the German Mosaic deal. Quote
sidewinder Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 (edited) Still knocked out by the sound quality of this Ory set. Nice big 3-D sound, better than they normally achieve with the CDs. David - you might want to check ebay for this one. There was an Ory set with a 'buy it now' available last time I looked on there.
