Ken Dryden Posted March 21, 2021 Report Posted March 21, 2021 I just finished listening to this set today. Quote
Bob_Bobson Posted March 25, 2021 Report Posted March 25, 2021 Picked this up recently, and it reaffirmed my love of the Mosaic label sets. Even though it's strictly piano solos and trios, it's got a great variety that I can listen to for hours. I also just picked up a grail item - the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra!! - that I'm currently ripping to my NAS and then I'll take the dive into that. It's gonna be a good day. Quote
mikeweil Posted March 26, 2021 Report Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) When I returned from work at 2 p.m. the package with the Teddy Wilson box was there on our doormat. How nice to start the week Edited April 6, 2021 by mikeweil Quote
ghost of miles Posted March 28, 2021 Report Posted March 28, 2021 (edited) Revisiting the first Mosaic set I ever bought, as I do every several years. I ordered it not long after it came out in 1995, and to hear this music again 25+ years later is to think that a whole lotta jazz pianists who have emerged since its release have listened to the records therein as well: Edited March 28, 2021 by ghost of miles Quote

Jim Duckworth Posted April 7, 2021 Report Posted April 7, 2021 The sessions with Irving Randolph are doing it for me! Quote
mikeweil Posted April 19, 2021 Report Posted April 19, 2021 Getting to the last discs of the Wilson box today: Quote
Bluesnik Posted April 25, 2021 Report Posted April 25, 2021 Listening to one of my most beloved Mosaics again. I said it sometime ago, but Pass is as wonderful here on steel strings as on nylon ones. Quote
David Ayers Posted April 26, 2021 Report Posted April 26, 2021 I think everybody knows that the only authentic Mosaic is the Berigan. I think people know that. And that’s what I’m listening to. Quote

I really enjoy the feel and approach of the whole set, as well as the standout sides. Though when I was playing Disk 1 I was told that it sounds like “nightmare music” so maybe it’s not for everyone... Quote
