StormP
Can't find anything interesting about Harry Connick--he bores me. Don't tell me there's a Mosaic featuring him! Storm P, on the other hand, is among my favorite humorists--In my childhood, Christmas wasn't Christmas without the annual Storm P book. Saxofonen er det eneste Instrument, som lyder ens, mens man lærer at spille, og naar man har lært det! Sorry for the slight detour--back to Mosaic. ← George Shearing appeared a few years ago in Toronto with his trio and ended the set with: "My name is Harry Connick Jr." There was wild applause. You figure out what he meant. San Francisco Scene is from his Mosaic box. His quote: "Only a gentleman knows when not to play the accordian" is straight out of Storm P. Dave James
Roy Eldridge. Disc 3. I was on the fence about this set, but so many positive comments from board members pushed me in what turns out to be the right direction. I had zero Roy in my entire collection up until I got this one, so I'm getting to discover him and these Verve sides all at the same time. If I could drink the stuff, I'd be thinking about an Old Milwaukee, cuz it doesn't get any better than this. Up over and out.
