alankin
Count Basie and His Orchestra – Breakfast Dance and Barbecue [CD 1a (set one) from The Complete Roulette Live Recordings] (Roulette Records / Mosaic) — With Marshal Royal, Frank Wess, Frank Foster, Billy Mitchell, Charlie Fowlkes / Thad Jones, Joe Newman, Wendell Culley, Snooky Young, Harry "Sweets" Edison / Al Grey Henry Coker, Benny Powell / Basie, Freddie Green, Eddie Jones, Sonny Payne / Joe Williams /  arrangers: Jones, Foster, Nat Pierce, Neal Hefti, Ernie Wilkins; includes much previously unissued material; live at The Americana Hotel, Miami, FL, 1959   I was lucky enough to find a used (or as they say, "pre-owned") set missing the box (but including the booklet) for a reasonable price.  (Now if I could only do the same for the Roulette studio sessions box!)  Edited April 11, 2016 by alankin
king ubu
caught a bad cold last week and have been in bed for the weekend and today (and tomorrow, alas) - making use of the time to spin the 1964-66 McLean sessions in chronological order (including the four Lee Morgan ones) - still as wonderful as when I first discovered these recordings, almost 20 years ago

ghost of miles
The Anita O'Day--I remember saying to a friend in the late 1990s, "I wish Mosaic Records would do an Anita O'Day Verve set," and a couple of years later one came out. (Nothing to do with my wish, of course... just a happy turn of events.) Great singer, great era for her on record.
sidewinder
I bought my O'Day set from Scott in person. Great set - will have to give it another spin. Yesterday spinning Anthony Braxton 'Complete Arista' CD2. From Scott Joplin to Eric Dolphy and points well beyond.. Perhaps the best bought on the spur of the last  moment . Don't play it too often but when I do I absolutely love it.

Thanks, but I don't think it's OOP. The Mosaic website says "This set is on backorder and is expected to be available late 2016"

Bluesnik
I got this new the other day, although it's already sold out at Mosaic. Very good. I like piano trios but also, and even better, piano, guitar, bass, as is the case in most of these sessions with the great Barney Kessel.
