Gee, thanks for the reminder. 30 years ago. Man! The Brooks was the first Mosaic I ever purchased. Yep, they were already nearly 20 years old by the time I finally picked this up. Mosaic wasn't even on my radar at the time this set was issued - quite obscure and difficult to get hold of in the UK in the pre-internet days. Not to mention very expensive ! Don't remember ever seeing any Mosaics for sale in Canada either, which is sort of suprising - although having said that I rarely saw any old Blue Notes there either. John Tapscott Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Bought this on the recent shipping sale. Just finishing up Disc 7. Amazingly good music. Arguably the best Mosaic set I own (and I have some dandies). Edited July 1, 2015 by John Tapscott Quote
mjzee Posted July 3, 2015 Report Posted July 3, 2015 I've started listening to the Sidney Bechet BN set on LP I recently picked up on Ebay. I thought the LP length was nicely suited to the music - 6 tracks on a side was just perfect (though I had to get up to turn the disc over). Great music, nice sound. I had most of this material on other releases, but this allowed me to appreciate the music anew. Quote
mikeweil Posted July 5, 2015 Report Posted July 5, 2015 Bob Whitlock's passing made me pull the Mulligan-Baker Mosaic - those LPs are plain flat and noise-free. Quote
