romualdo Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions------disc 2 I'd forgotten how good this set was as I've not reached for it in a while, Eddie Miller sounding very good indeed. Great sound , Capitol 78s seem to be way better than any other jazz labels of that time in my experience. listening to the disc while burning it for me? Quote
mjazzg Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Bobby Hutcherson Select, disc 3. glad i snaffled this just before it disappeared. Some strong writing as well as playing Quote

Clunky Posted May 18, 2014 Report Posted May 18, 2014 Looking forward to this one. It's 'in the post'. Although I've had this set sine release , the last 3 discs were still sealed until today. Disc IX spinning right now. Excellent transfers which are faithful to original issues . Quote

Clunky Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 So glad I bought this ( minutes before it vanished). Such a great set , could do with more vocals by Mr T but what's there is excellent. Great sound too. Quote

Great sound too. Mine's mid-Atlantic I think.. I'm sure you'll love it. Calling it Dixieland just doesn't seem right. It's classy music. I'm not sure why I left it so long as this set was on my radar to some extent for years. Nothing like 'last chance' to galvanise me into action. Quote
sidewinder Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 Nothing like 'last chance' to galvanise me into action. Indeed ! Quote
sidewinder Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Farmer/Golson Jazztet set, CD4 Now CDs 1 to 3 of this set. What a great box .... and great band ! and topped off with CD7. Golson's 'Take a Number From 1 to 10' and Farmer's 'Listen To Art Farmer & The Orchestra'. Two undervalued and excellent albums. Quote

ghost of miles Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Duke Ellington, COMPLETE CAPITOL RECORDINGS. Supposed to be a weak period for Duke, but I still love a lot of the material in this set. Quote
golfcrazy1984 Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 Listening to disk 3 of The Complete Roulette Live Recordings of Count Basie and His Orchestra. SWINGIN' Sadly, I don't think there will be another band like that. Bourbon in hand, and the new Armstrong set arriving tomorrow! Quote
