paul secor Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 Roy Eldrige Verve - disc 6 I have a hard time getting past the dixieland format. There are very good solos and moments, but that dixieland thing ... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 I agree, but Roy was proud of the date.Granz missed a fantastic opportunity to have Red Allen and Roy play together. Given a few minutes I could come up with a good band and great program. Quote

Losin isn't that complete here... and the box gives little info, too. Quote

Bluesnik Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 the complete blue note hank mobley fifties sessions. very fine material, indeed. i would prefer to have every album with its cover but, when i bought it, i found it to be very convenient to have all the elusive fifties albums under one roof and with excellent sound without having to wait for them. plus the excellent mosaic booklet. jeffcrom Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 The Complete Verve Tal Farlow Sessions - the session with Oscar Pettiford on cello. I woke up this morning wanting to hear this Tal Farlow session and wanting to read John Donne. I told my wife that, and she said I was weird. But I did both today. Quote

It came up on my iPhone as I was listening to the iPod in shuffle mode, and decided to listen to the whole album! Cool arrangements and an AMAZING list of West Coast players. Great sound quality too.
