BillF Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Condon Mob, CD1. Nice ! Yes, Condon's nice to listen to once in a while. My favorite track is "Jam Session Blues/Ole Miss" from Jam Session Coast to Coast. Eddie's studio comments are priceless! Quote
jazzbo Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 That's a great one, but SW and I were listening to the Condon MOB Mosaic. Quote

king ubu Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 yesterday had most of the Carmell Jones Select on (all except the Harold Land album on CD3, for time reasons) Quote
sidewinder Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) That's a great one, but SW and I were listening to the Condon MOB Mosaic. Yeah, exactly Jazzbo Eddie hardly features on the Condon Mob set but the Condon 'vibe' is all over it and the music is very representative of stuff that I guess could be heard at Eddie Condon's NYC club in the 1950s. A great set, glad to have 'stumbled' across it. And much of it recorded at Columbia 30th St NYC studio. Heaven ! That big black one...y'know, with the b&w photo on the front? I LOVE that one! Good choice. Is that the one with the big booklet in it? :rsmile: Edited October 5, 2009 by sidewinder Quote
mellowT Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Shorty Rogers - Complete Atlantic & EMI Jazz Recordings, discs 1 & 2 Finally found a copy of this set. Wonderful! Quote
paul secor Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Bird/Benedetti - Bird at the Onyx 1948 w. Miles, Duke Jordan, Tommy Potter, & Max I've given up trying to follow the order of this box, & just put on a side (mine is the LP version), listen to Bird wail, and then check out the venue, year, etc. Easier and more enjoyable that way. gmonahan Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 Artie Shaw Mosaic disc 2. Really good sound! gregmo Quote

CSB046 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Randy Weston Select, disc 3 The set just arrived yesterday, and I decided to start with the last disc. Haven't really warmed up to the Uhuru Afrika material yet, but I like the Highlife tracks a lot. Quote
