tranemonk Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 (edited) John Handy Select Discs 1 and 2... I'm finding it a tad (not much)... disappointing.... You know what it is... I was so blown away by the Zeitlin Select I listened to a few days ago... (and this Billie Holliday set I'm listening to in the car).... that everything else is just not really working for me..... now Disc 3.... For some reason... I really like the live sessions a lot more than the studio sessions.... Edited March 8, 2009 by tranemonk Quote
tranemonk Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 Onto something very different... Johnny Smith Disc 3.... Oliver Nelson Disc 6 Quote

jazzbo Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I've bought this, and have played it about four times through in the last year. I would hesitate to make assumptions based on this thread. I only record about 10% of what I listen to on this and other threads.. . . . Quote

I don't know what to say about music any longer, other than I like it. It's not essential. I can get through my life without it. But it's a really nice group of recordings, in great sound. As an ex-drummer, returning to drumming lately, I perhaps appreciate Rich in ways others might not. He had many ways to swing. Quote

Matthew Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Art Pepper Mosaic Select. Very enjoyable. I starting to dig Pepper, a lot. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 I'm listening to a lot of Andy Bey today, and getting quite emotional. It almost seems like a Mosaic set, and the quality is surely there. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Art Pepper Mosaic Select. Very enjoyable. I starting to dig Pepper, a lot. You have a lot more enjoyment to come, that's a great set, especially Disc 3. Quote
