Shawn Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Bobby Hackett, disc 3 This one is surprising me...I'm diggin' it. Quote
blajay Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 Freddie Redd. Thanks Dan--it arrived safely a little while back, and I hadn't gotten to enjoy until now. Great stuff--pretty much what I expected after watching The Connection a long time ago. Quote
jacknife Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Gerald Wilson, discs 1 and 2 Me too! Just got this box yesterday and am diggin' the organ tracks with Richard Holmes. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 I finally got around to the Bix/T/T set. Outstanding. Quote
J.A.W. Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 I finally got around to the Bix/T/T set. Outstanding. It is. One of their best sets. Quote

Ron S Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Gerald Wilson, discs 3 and 4 Really diggin' this one. Sorta glad it went into "Running Low" so I had an excuse to pick it up. Quote
John Tapscott Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Onzy Matthews Select - much to enjoy on this set. Quote
blajay Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Grachan Moncur III I just caved and bought this since it is running low--the only strategy I have for buying Mosaics without entirely ruining my finances. I don't think I'll regret it, will I Sundog? Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Over breakfast, disc 5 of the Lionel Hampton box, paying particular attention to the session with Lee Young. Nowt wrong with Lee's drumming on the two up numbers that I can hear. And his vocal on "Lost love" is so much like Lester's playing... RIP MG Quote
Sundog Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Grachan Moncur III I just caved and bought this since it is running low--the only strategy I have for buying Mosaics without entirely ruining my finances. I don't think I'll regret it, will I Sundog? This is an excellent set, great writing and playing by everyone involved. Very interesting to listen to a young Tony Williams! Especially knowing what was to come. Quote
Big Al Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Bouncing back and forth between the recently received Buddy Rich and Jack Teagarden sets. Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Buddy Defranco and Sonny Clark!! Quote
king ubu Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Bix/Tram/Tea - disc 3 right now, been playing discs 1 and 2 a couple of days ago, some great, some good, but some annoying vocals, too... Quote
Stereojack Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Working my way through Sarah Vaughan & Jack Teagarden Capitol - both recently acquired. Quote

Kinda wish those were on their own disc so I could avoid them altogether, but I guess that's what CD burners are for. Quote
