montg Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Andrew Hill Select (the group recordings -- MS 016). This late 60s early 70s era of Blue Note is fascinating to me. This Hill Select, coupled with the Tyner Select, are favorites. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 The very excellent first cd of the Byrd Adams set. Quote
Guest Bixieland Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 I finally got around to the Bix/T/T set. Outstanding. It is. One of their best sets. Absolutely one of their best, and essential. I'm currently listening to the Venuti/Lang set - disc 6. If you liked the Bix/T/T, this one might be even better. It covers the same time, but is a broader picture of 20s and early 30s America -- notably the blues. And the sound quality is a notch above the Bix/T/T set. Quote
