Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

Listened (twice) to discs 5-7 of JJ. Also very good, some differences from discs 1-4. More bluesy and extroverted arrangements, sidemen also include Freddie Hubbard and Clifford Jordan. It's a fine package. Apparently the set was always a slow seller for some (presumably extra-musical) reasons.

'The Complete Max Roach Plus Four Mercury' box, 7CDs. Spurred on by the Max Mosaic thread and about time I gave this one another spin. CD1 - sounding excellent, first time I have heard this set since changing the pre-amp.

I've been listening to a lot of Sidney Bechet recently.  Great stuff!

I wasn't sure if I really liked Artie Shaw.  A while back I gave his Centennial Selection disk a good listen and decided yes, this is good big-band stuff and quite a bit of it does swing pretty nicely.  And I've gotten into big band a lot in recent years.  So recently found a copy of the Mosaic and have been checking it out.

There are two 2 cd sets called "Last Sessions" that have all star small ensemble recordings by Shaw that are wonderful.
