Has anybody watched any of the Hee Haw DVDs?

Deepdiscountdvd.com has them for under $10. I"m interested in the country music.

Perfect for Father's Day (at least my Dad!).

Well, if they'd just boil it down to the music (or even Buck and Roy, for that matter) I'd go for it, but I don't need the corn...

The corn would be the point of giving it to my Dad!

When I was little and my parents when out my brothers and I would have to stay with my grandparents. If it was my Dad's parents we had to watch Lawrence Welk and if it was my Mom's we'd have to watch Hee Haw. Back then I hated both of them (Hee Haw and Lawrence Welk not my grandparents). Now I watch Lawrence Welk reruns all the time, I wonder what changed... ;)

I was really pissed when the cancelled the Smothers Brothers show and put this in its place. But I got over it about 20 minutes into the first episode.

It stayed on the air WAY too long, and stopped being really funny after a year or two, but those first few seasons were a riot.

I rarely watched Hee Haw, but I can tell you that Roy Clark in his prime was about as good a picker as you'll ever see.

Upright Bill - I'm with you on the Lawrence Welk reruns. They're on here in Portland at 6:00 on Saturday nights. If I'm around, I tune in. Not unlike Hee Haw, you have to be willing to tolerate the chaff (and there's plenty of that) to get to the wheat. But, if you're like me, you know that when Larry decided to put down the hammer, that band of his could flat out swing.

Up over and out.
