I know those of you at the centre of this board are experiencing atrocious weather. Hope it lifts soon!

However, in other parts...

How's summer shaping up?

After a a very dull, damp spring the last couple of weekends have been glorious here in the UK.

Today I took my bike out to Clumber Park, a former grand house (now demolished) that is a grand place for a summer's day. And saw:

It's freezing here. The coldest month of May I have ever experienced. Colder than April. 5°C in the morning today. I saw on TV that it was even snowing in the german Alps.

Must be some kind of promotion for that "Day After Tomorrow" movie ...

Outside my front door last week. This is the second and, usually, last batch from the hens. Unfortunately they rarely all survive.

I went for a walk out back (same woods I wrote about in the "earlier thread") to check on where the river was after all the rain we've been getting. It's higher than I ever remember it being. There's a golf course on the northern edge of the woods that's completely underwater (the floodplain--great spot for a golf course, morons!). The footbridge I wrote about is normally 3 1/2 to 4 feet above the surface of the water. Today the water was actually touching the underside of it. Parts of the trails were completely flooded. Pretty wild. Though everything is very green, I have to say.

Nice ducks, Tony!

Claude,

Despite being beautiful this last week it has been a might chilly. With the sun out you don't notice it but when the sun goes down...brrrrr...

Any chance of a pic of the floodwaters of Organissimoland?

And a gloomy afternoon on the Wiltshire Downs. Note the horse carved in the hillside! Explains that cover from the local XTC lads a couple of decades back! (Actually that cover is based on a much older horse carving a few miles away).

Edinburgh castle Wednesday morning (about 10am) just taken from across the road. Warm, sunny and smelling very sweet for a busy city centre!

You guys are dripping with old world charm over there and you want a photo of my neighborhood? I'll see what I can do in the next week. There are some charming parts of Oakland. I don't LIVE in those parts but it's nice for those who do...

If you look closely at Tony's Edinburgh castle shots you can see several of the bodies from Ian Rankin's books!

Arn't digital cameras amazing. Point, click! Just like an old instamatic. Slip straight back in your pocket.

The results come out better than the cumbersome SLR I had in the 80s that needed several sherpas to carry the lenses!

And those pics are about the third of actual size. Too much memory to upload onto a post.

I may be wrong but I think that scaling them down also affects resolution.

They are brill though.

The warmest day of the year so far.

I'm riding back from the café to home in order to collect my son from nursery. Pics taken about 7 and 1 miles from the village where I live. I don't normally have the camera with me on my bike but a friend had brought it out as I had left it at his house after a party last night.

Again i had chatted over my coffees too long and left myself insufficient time to get back, therefore the picture was taken whilst moving.

Glorious, Tony. Where is that? Looks like the vale of York.

It's certainly been a gorgeous day. Sadly a week late. I could have done with this weather in Wiltshire last week. Instead I've had a day of fractious overheated children in poorly ventilated classrooms!

It's the other edge Bev.

Normally the cold, windy side of the Moors!

My wife is also a teacher so I can empathise with the way you are feeling. She is stooping over work just now.
