street singer Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 (edited) I imagine there may be a few Galaxie 500 fans on this board... If you're not yet aware, there's a 2-DVD set being put out next month by Plexifilm that looks mighty good. Here are the details from a promotional email I received: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Galaxie 500 Don't Let Our Youth Go To Waste - 2xDVD Set Pre-order now and you will receive a FREE limited edition yellow-vinyl 7" with your order. The 7" is only available if you pre-order the DVD here. You will also get your copy early. If you place your order by Friday, June 18th at 3pm, your copy will ship that day. The official street date is June 29th. DON'T LET OUR YOUTH GO TO WASTE is a comprehensive visual document spanning the history of GALAXIE 500. A compendium of all their music videos, a rare TV appearance, and an archive of over 40 songs performed live, this 2-DVD set includes a performance of an unreleased original song "Buzz in My Head" and a live version of Jonathan Richman's "Back in Your Life," both of which were never recorded or released in any other form. From fan footage to professionally-produced segments, the concerts have been compiled from over 20 hours of performances, curated by the band to best represent their brief but illustrious career. The deluxe booklet contains photos and a new interview with all three members, Dean Wareham, Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang conducted by Yo La Tengo's James McNew. ABOUT THE 7 inch "Snowstorm" b/w "Pictures" Live at Club Lingerie, LA March 30, 1990. Promotional only, limited to 500 copies with pre-orders only, not available for sale anywhere. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm such a sucker for limited edition stuff. I've already pre-ordered my copy... Here's a link to check out, if interested: http://www.plexifilm.com/galaxie.html Edited May 21, 2004 by street singer Quote

ghost of miles Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 I have the Rykodisc box but haven't listened to it in a couple of years. Loved 'em... 23-year-old stoned-slacker summer music, and I mean that as a compliment. B) Quote
