Jim Alfredson Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Nada. The very small piece that BN ran on their website about Elvin Jones contained a link to the discussion of Elvin on AAJ. Fantastic. Speaking of Elvin, I just have to say that Randy played his ass off on our Elvin tribute last night. We played "Timeline" from the Michael Brecker album with Pat Metheny, Larry Goldings, and Elvin, and Randy played very powerfully and soulfully in Elvin's memory. Good stuff. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 I used to be sentimental. Now I'm just mental. I used to be disgusted. Now I try to be amused... Quote
Jazzmoose Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Hmmm...anyone wanna guess which CD I'm going to have to play now? Quote

chris olivarez Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 The BNBB is part of the dark distant past as far as I'm concerned. BNBB-"Let the door hit you where the dog bit you". Quote
Dave James Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 Or alternatively, "Don't let it hit you where the Good Lord split you." Up over and out. Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 (edited) You know, other than feedback from Tom (tomatbluenote), there's not a damn thing I miss about the old BNBB. And frankly, this place has everything I liked about the BNBB (and more of it too!!), and less of the stuff I didn't like (and usually a lot less!!). And as long as several of us can manage to get Michael's ear through the Mosaic e-mail route every now and then, that reduces the need for Tom, for the most part anyway. The overall civility on this board (most days), is downright amazing (the politics forum, notwithstanding ). Edited May 27, 2004 by Rooster_Ties Quote
jazzbo Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I have to admit I love this place. . . but. . . I do miss the ole Blue Note board before the boom fell and Greg was swimming around telling everyone not to let the door hit them in the ass! There was an addictive quality to the sheer speed and volume of that board. This one comes close, but doesn't yet have the huge membership that one did, international, intergenerational, and just huge! The way it moved was dizzying sometimes! Quote
