7/4 Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 Anyone know the state of his health these days? Just the same old rumors of MD. Quote
mjzee Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Does anyone even know if he's still alive? Quote
Scott Dolan Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Sure he is. Never got his music though. Zappa or bust, baby!! Quote
7/4 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Back then, SNL had interesting musical guests. Quote
Johnny E Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Is it just me, or does Beefheart circa 'Trout Mask' sound like Ornette Coleman's Body Meta only with a brilliantly demented Howlin' Wolf screaching on top of it all? CB Trout Mask: 70' OC Body Meta: 75' Hmmmm Quote
7/4 Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I always had the feeling that they might be listening to each other at some point. Beefheart definitely, Ornette...possibly. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Spending a lot of time with Grow Fins lately. I always "liked" his music, though whether I fully appreciated it... I don't know. Now, I feel closer to "getting" it and have really enjoyed the last few spins of that boxed set. Quote

mjzee Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 New on eMusic: Captain Beefheart Live at Bickershaw 1972 Quote
BFrank Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 I was wondering about that myself, mjzee. Have you heard it? Quote
Tony Pusey Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 I was at Bickershaw where it rained constantly, the Dead played an awesome set, but I cant for the life of me recall the good Captains set....old age? Trivea, in the UK there is a long running, and I mean long running soap, Coronation Street, and back in 1967, I kid you not, at least one of the charecters was lured away on a march to London to demand that Beefheart would play in the UK! mjzee Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Just the 30-second samples available on eMusic. Sounds like a cassette recording. Spirited performance. "Spitballs" is just soprano sax and drums (Artie Tripp/Ed Marimba). It was a great version of the band. Quote
Kalo Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Great minds think alike. There's something extremely disturbing about that picture. Then again, I find there to be something disturbing and repellent about every photo of her. Quote
BFrank Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Is this real......or is it PhotoShopped? Quote
7/4 Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Is this real......or is it PhotoShopped? I was hoping it's real. Quote
BFrank Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Is this real......or is it PhotoShopped? I was hoping it's real. Where'd you get it? Quote

BFrank Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Yep............P-Shopped. Oh, well ... good for a few laughs, anyway. Quote
Kalo Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Vanity Fair, '83. The old 'fheart was having a real cultural moment back then. Wasn't that around the same time he was on Saturday Night Live? Quote
