Hardbopjazz Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 On the way to work this morning, I had on a oldies station. The tune playing was “Stormy” by the Classic Four. Right away I thought of Reuben Wilson and Duke Pearson's versions of this tune. Then I thought of "Spooky" their other big hit, and I always hear Stanley Turrentine version of it in my head. Any other pop tunes that go well in the jazz arena? Burt Bacharach's tunes seem like perfect fit for this. Quote
rockefeller center Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Burt Bacharach's tunes seem like perfect fit for this. Bacharach's songs have been covered extensively. Quote
take5 Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Most of Steely Dan's catalogue would be appropriate for this thread. Quote
