Kevin Bresnahan Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 I've had terrible luck with Inner City pressings. They can look perfect in the store and play with crackles & pops all over the place. Quote

sidewinder Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 I've had terrible luck with Inner City pressings. They can look perfect in the store and play with crackles & pops all over the place. The best one's I ever heard on Inner City were the Art Farmer East Winds ('To Duke With Love' and 'The Summer Knows' - still have them). Although I'm sure that the original East Winds would sound superlative. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Sabu: Palo Congo (BN/EMI Toshiba Japan) I am curious if this is mono or stereo. I had an original lp (mono only) and it could blow the doors off the house. None of the cd reissues even come close. Quote

jeffcrom Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Morgana King - The Winter of My Discontent (Ascot mono). Not jazz, but a good singer presenting twelve of Alec Wilder's best songs. Ms. King's rendition of the title song is my favorite recording of this great song. And Wilder's "Who Can I Turn To" is a much better song than the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley song of the same name. YMMV. Quote
jeffcrom Posted February 21, 2013 Report Posted February 21, 2013 Mundell Lowe - Tacet for Neurotics: The Music of Alec Wilder (Offbeat mono). Reissue of the Riverside album The New Music of Alec Wilder from 1956. Amazing, unclassifiable music. Quote

jazzbo Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 Sorry for the big pic. Not the best mastering on this pressing. . . a bit strident, though swinging hard. But such great music. Quote
paul secor Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 Art Hodes: South Side Memories (Sackville) Wonderful music by Art Hodes and liner notes to match, with Mr. Hodes recounting his experiencing the music and life of 1920's Southside Chicago. Quote
