New York Art Quartet - call it art (LP 5) - (Triple Point Records)

so far, no complaints.

Yeah, that Art Farmer record is really strong. There are a couple of others (right?) from that band that I still need to grab one of these days.

I'm less enthused with this set , I found it a bit dull. I usually have plenty of time for Farmer and Hall, but this one remained earth bound.

For a while there Jim Hall seemed to be everywhere. Rollings, Desmond, Farmer, Evans, Carter made beautful music with Jim. I've traditionally been a little cool on Jim Hall's albums as a leader, though I do have a few I really like, Concierto and the live one he did with a quartet on Horizon being the exceptions to the rule. The albums he did with those mentioned though are some of my favorite jazz albums today so who knows? Time can change p.o.v. There was once a time when I would have not cared for Desmond and he's now one of my favorite alto players and I wish I had been able to see him perform

Ammons & Stitt - Boss Tenors In Orbit (Verve) Original RVG promo mono(?) pressing. No indication that it's stereo so I guess it's mono.

BTW, first tunes played with my newly arrived Mcintosh MX-110 tubed preamp. Sounds pretty good but better? Jury's still out. :)

Folk Dances of Greece (Colonial mono). This 1959 album has some amazing clarinet playing on it - by Gus Gadinis and Dave Tarras, among others.
